Eye Floaters Causes

There are many causes of eye floaters. The most common is known as vitreous syneresis and affects up to 70% of individuals 60 years or older. It's simply the vitreous' natural aging process. As we age, our vitreous becomes denser and its difference in composition leads to the creation of eye floaters.
Another common cause of eye floaters is direct hits to the head or eyes. Whenever you are hit, you run a very real risk of developing eye floaters. With any direct blow, several inner structures of the eye can release small particles of debris into the vitreous humor - creating new eye floaters.
Certain medications can also cause eye floaters. It's very important that you check with your doctor and explain that you're worried about developing any secondary complication such as eye floaters. He might prescribe you a different medication. Also stay away from new medications that haven't been tested well.
